Scientific Theses

In general, Bachelor's and Master's theses are the same, but the project for a Master's thesis is more demanding and you can be more creative yourself.

In principle, you can start a Bachelor's or Master's thesis with us in the working group at any time. Typically, this is done by finding out about the topics we are working on in the group at the bachelor student information evening or on the homepage. If you are enthusiastic about it, then speak to the doctoral students or postdocs directly, as you will always be supervised directly by members of staff in the lab. If we have space in the lab and your preferred supervisor has time, we will come up with project ideas together, which will be discussed with you so that we can find a topic that interests everyone. You can familiarize yourself with your topic in advance by arrangement before you register your thesis with the examination office. Bachelor's and Master's theses are always written in English, unless you are studying to be a teacher and it makes sense for you to work in a more school-oriented way.

You will receive the following items to enable you to work under optimum conditions:

  • safety briefing
  • book with lots of tips on laboratory work and writing your bachelor's/master's thesis
  • intensive support
  • detailed instruction on all the equipment you need for your project
  • opportunity to be a co-author of a publication
  • swiftly written report as soon as the lab books are handed in.
