Hinrich obtained his Abitur from the Christian Gymnasium Hermannsburg in 2018. The following year, he began studying chemistry at the Christian-Albrechts University of Kiel, where he completed his bachelor's degree in 2022. His thesis, carried out in the Herges group, focused on the synthesis of a bacteriochlorin record-player molecule as a photoswitchable MRI contrast agent. He subsequently pursued a master's degree, which he completed in 2025 with a thesis in the Staubitz group. There, he worked on macrocyclic azobenzenes with high thermal half-lifetimes. In the same year, he joined the Staubitz group as a PhD student. His doctoral research focuses on the synthesis and characterization of visible light responsive azobenzene-based materials.
