Jonas was born in Oldenburg (Oldb.) in 1997. He obtained his Abitur in 2015 at the Hölty-Gymnasium-Wunstorf and then began an apprenticeship as a chemical laboratory assistant at the “Dow Deutschland” in Stade. After successfully completing his degree in 2018, he started studying Business Chemistry at the CAU in Kiel. In addition to his studies, he worked between 2019 and 2022 as a research assistant in the ICP-MS laboratory of Dr. Dieter Garbe-Schönberg at the Institute of Geosciences from 2019 to 2022. Jonas finished his B.Sc. degree with a thesis about fluorinated acid-functionalized, electron rich nickel porphyrins in the Herges group in 2022. He remained in the group as a research assistant and completed his Master in 2024 in the field of hyperpolarised MRI and the synthesis of its required precursor compounds. For his PhD he joined the Staubitz group in 2024. His research focuses on the optimization and synthesis of macrocyclic azobenzene compounds.
