Research
We are interested in using the supramolecular toolbox (e.g. hydrogen bonds, coordination bonds, van der Waals forces) to self-assemble metal-organic cages from relatively simple building blocks, such as metal ions and organic ligands. Metal-organic cages are interesting because they contain a well-defined cavity that could bind guest molecules strongly and with high selectivity.
We are particularly interested in designing stimuli-responsive cages, which change their properties (e.g. structure or release a guest) in response to a stimulus such as light.
